Fidya / Kaffarah

Perform Your Religious Duty To Feed The Hungry

£5 Per Person

What is Fidya?

Fidya is an Islamic charity that only becomes obligatory to donate when a person cannot fast during Ramadan for any legitimate reason, such as medical conditions, old age, prolonged illness, or long-distance travel. Hence, it is given to compensate and make up for unkept fasts.

“Observing Saum (fasts) for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskin (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if only you know.”

 – (Al-Baqarah 2:184)

Allah S.W.T has provided the ease of Fidya, as He is the most merciful. So, even if a person cannot fast, Allah S.W.T rewards them for their generosity and contribution towards the needy. Therefore, it is vital to understand the essence of giving fidya.

Through Saba Relief’s Fidya fund, you can help the poorest families and starving people in Yemen who struggle to feed themselves and their families. Comfort them during hardship; fulfil your religious duty for each missed fast to serve humanity.

What Is Kaffarah?

Kaffarah is the opportunity to make amends before Allah S.W.T, as it is the expiation for the deliberately missed fasts that are skipped or not honoured on purpose. For each disregarded fast, a person is required to fast for 60 days in a row or feed 60 needy people to fulfil the Kaffarah. So, the amount of Kaffarah will be calculated at £5 per person for 60 people (£5 x 60).

Allah S.W.T is the most forgiving, and He pardons and welcomes those who repent back. So never lose hope in His mercy and offer Kaffarah to get salvation from the misconduct. Your Kaffarah donated through Saba Relief can help suppress hunger amongst the most poverty-stricken communities in Yemen.
